Scottish Sporting’s competition season continues on SATURDAY 30 September 2017 with an AutoSOLO, an All-Forwards Autotest and a Production Car Autotest at the premises of Irvine Bay Events, Ardeer.

As well as being a counter in the SSCC Club and Autotest Championships, this event also will be the third round of the new inter-club autotest challenge which Scottish Sporting is running in collaboration with Coltness Car Club, a series of 4 tarmac autotests run by SSCC and 4 off-road (grass) autotests run by CCC.

Robertson Trophy Autosolo/Autotest 3

Saturday 25th March 2017

The third round of SSCC’s 2017 competition season will take place on Saturday 25 March 2017 an AutoSOLO, an All-Forwards Autotest and a Production Car Autotest at the premises of Irvine Bay Events, Ardeer.

This event will be the first round of the new inter-club autotest challenge which Scottish Sporting is running in collaboration with Coltness Car Club, a series of 4 tarmac autotests run by SSCC and 4 off-road (grass) autotests run by CCC.  More details later, but we hope that the challenge will prove an interesting addition to the West of Scotland motorsport scene.

A reminder, too, that following changes to MSA General Regulations, a driver of an AutoSOLO car may elect to carry a passenger to give course directions (see Supplementary Regulation 8 for details).  However, a passenger is not a requirement – whether or not to carry one is entirely the choice of the driver.

Entries for this event close at 7.00 pm on Wednesday 22 March 2017.  To enter, please email or ‘phone your name, contact details and details of your entry (Division entered, car make/ model/engine capacity) to me (Email: charleswturner@ntlworld.com ; telephone [answerphone] 0141 571 9816) .   Then print off and complete the form included with the attached event Regulations and bring the completed form and the entry fee with you to the event.

Please do not just turn up at the event – if you’re going to enter please ‘phone or email me now!

Anniversary Run 29/10/16

Something a bit different and a new venture for SSCC – we’ll be running a Production Car Autotest with a rally flavour, at Ardeer on Saturday 29 October.

Cars don’t have to be taxed, insured or MoT’d but do have to be in a condition which would allow them to be driven on the road (so saloons and sports cars but no cut-down minis or similar “specials”). A passenger will be required, not only to comply with the MSA’s regs for PCAs but also to navigate round the tests which will be driven “semi-blind” (a single walk-through in the morning, before timed runs start!) and to record the code boards which will be positioned at strategic points in the tests. All the tests will be on smooth tarmac, using the whole of the area that we normally use (the paddock will be at the entrance to the Irvine Bay site), so we anticipate that each test will take up to 2 minutes to complete and some of them even longer.

This should be a fun event, and a stepping stone to us running a full Targa Rally next year, so we’re hoping for a full entry, to help us develop the concept. Regs and an entry form are attached and are also being published on the Club’s website (www.scottishsportingcc.co.uk). However entries are strictly limited to 20 so don’t miss out, get your entry in NOW!

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Ardeer on 29 October.

SACC Autosolo 21/08/16

On Sunday 21 August 2016 the Scottish Sporting Car Club will be organising the third (and final) round of the Scottish Association of Car Clubs’ Autosolo Challenge 2016, a series of Autosolos sponsored by Craig Moncrieff Cars. The event will be held at the premises of Irvine Bay Events, Ardeer and Supplementary Regulations and an electronic entry form are attached.

Please note that this event is only for Autosolo cars (ie cars that are taxed, insured and, if appropriate, MoT’d). However the good news is that anything capable of being driven legally on the public highway is eligible – previous entries have included a Smart car and various other unlikely vehicles. Also the tests will be more open and flowing than our normal autotest-based layouts (and hence far more car friendly) so if you fancy a bit of fun in your road car, now’s your chance.

To enter this event:

EITHER print the entry form which forms the second part of the attached Regs & Entry Form document and post it with a cheque for your entry fee to the address on the form;

OR download the Electronic Entry Form (the second of the attached documents) and follow the instructions given at the head of that form for submitting an entry and paying the entry fee electronically.
