INTRODUCTION TO, AND COACHING IN, AUTOSOLO/AUTOTEST/PRODUCTION CAR AUTOTEST : SATURDAY 1 FEBRUARY 2020
Something a little different to start Scottish Sporting Car Club’s 2020 season: Bob Mather (the Club’s accredited Motorsport Coach) will be running an introduction and coaching event for autosolo, autotest and production car autotest on Saturday 1 February 2020 at W H Malcolm, Johnstone.
The event is aimed at
– experienced competitors looking to gain an edge to be able to beat their fellow competitors (like Bob!);
– beginners looking to improve their performance in the Club’s event; and especially at
– complete newcomers looking for an introduction to motorsport (so if you know of anyone not currently competing who might be interested in getting into autosolo/autotesting please draw this event to their attention).
The format will follow that of previous years with sessions concentrating on steering, braking and route analysis, with repeated runs round a short autotest course to allow everyone to put into practice what they’ve been told in the preceding instructional element. Signing-on begins at 10:00, coaching/practice starts 11:00 (approx.) and the event will finish around 15:30 or so.
The Entry Fee is only £10 (to cover the cost of the MsUK permits/insurance) but places are limited to an absolute maximum of 15 divided into 3 groups as follows:
5 x members of SSCC
5 x J1000 championship contenders (actual or potential)
5 x members of University or other motorsport clubs
Entries will be accepted strictly in order of receipt (first come first served) and no entries will be accepted on the day. Once all 5 places in any one Group are filled, subsequent entries for that Group will be placed on a Reserve List. At the closing date, any unfilled places will be reallocated to competitors on the Reserve List in order of receipt of their entries, irrespective of the Group for which they are entered.
To register for this event please email me by reply to this email or at email@example.com with your name, the Group you are entering under and the car you will be using. All the paperwork (including club membership if anyone is not currently a member and MsUK RS licence applications – see below) can be completed at the event but it is vital that we know how many folk are coming, so please email me NOW!
From 1 January 2020 everyone (including passengers) competing in motorsport events will have to hold an MsUK licence in addition to their club membership card. However the basic grade of licence, the RS Clubman, is free and can be obtained by completing a short form on the Motorsport UK website at http://www.motorsportuk.org (on the MsUK Home Page, under the “Membership” menu look for “2020 RS Clubman Licence”). Although it will be possible to complete an application form at signing-on, please help us to help you by getting your RS licence in advance of this event.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to the start of our 2020 competition season.
